COLUMBUS, Ohio -

The National Hockey League and the Columbus Blue Jackets announced Saturday that the 2015 NHL All Star Game will be held in Columbus.

The announcement was made by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman in Nationwide Arena during Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Social media announcements followed.

The game and related festivities will be held on January 24 and 25.

"Columbus is an ideal host city for our All-Star Celebration," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "The facilities are first-rate, the Blue Jackets are exciting and entertaining and the fans passionately support their team and our League. Our players, sponsors, media and guests are looking forward to being in Columbus for the All-Star activities."

Word spread quickly to fans at the game Saturday night.

"The town never lost hope. Like I said, it's a great town, it's a great arena," said fan Don Klein.

"It's coming back. And this town should just rally around that" said Robert Durkin.

The 2013 NHL All Star Game was scheduled to be held in Columbus, but was cancelled due to a lockout that delayed the start of the season.
