1 Killed In Overnight Shooting In East Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio -
Homicide detectives were called to an east side neighborhood after an early Saturday morning shooting turned deadly.

According to Columbus police, officers responded to the report of a shooting in the area of Beechwood Road and East Livingston Avenue at about 4:13 a.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived on scene, they found 23-year-old Paul Davis, inside a vehicle, with gunshot wounds.

Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers said Davis was involved in an incident with a security person in the Moonlight After-Hours club, located in the 3000 block of East Livingston Avenue, and fled the area.

According to police, Davis was then fire upon by other security personnel of the club, after he threatened security with the gun.

Police continue to investigate the incident, but said they recovered a handgun at the scene.

The identity of the security officer has not been released.
