HILLIARD, Ohio -

A 21-year-old woman was killed when Hilliard police says her vehicle crashed into the back of a tractor trailer that was stopped in the southbound lanes of Interstate 270 on the city's west side Tuesday night.

Hilliard police officers and medic personnel were called to the southbound lanes of I-270, near Cemetery Road, on a report of a crash at about 10:46 p.m.

Responding officers say a 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by Maria Elizabeth Tiberi, of Dublin, had crashed into the back of the stopped semi. The initial investigation indicates that the semi was stopped because of heavy traffic in the southbound lanes of I-270.

Tiberi was transported to Grant Medical Center where she later died, according to police.

According to 10tv.com, Maria was the daughter of long-time sports anchor Dom Tiberi. She was a 2010 graduate of Dublin Coffman High School and a student at The Ohio State University.

The driver of the semi, a 30-year-old woman, was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hilliard Division of Police.
