1 Critically Injured In East-Side Shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio -

A woman was hospitalized after being shot on the city's east side Tuesday afternoon.

According to Columbus police, officers responded to the area of South Waverly and East Main streets on the report of a shooting at about 4:07 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a 50-year-old Brenda Jones in an alley with multiple gunshot wounds.

Detective say Jones was shot in the upper right arm. The bullet traveled through her arm and into her Trapezius muscle and exited out of her back. She was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, where she was later stabilized.

According to a report, a witness reported seeing the suspect, Ja'waun McCrae, 17, and a second unknown male shoot Jones.

McCrae was taken into custody a short time later. He has been charged with felonious assault, according to police.
