A crash that occurred Wednesday evening in Licking County caused a water outage along the western edge of service for Southwest Licking Community Water Thursday morning.
According to Southwest Licking Community Water, customers in the service area between Taylor Road and Watkins Road experienced an outage Thursday.
According to the Southwest Licking Community Water and Sewer District, the District's York Road treatment facility sustained a power outage following a crash in the 7200 block of York Road at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The power outage affected the emergency backup systems from 1 a.m. until 7 a.m. Thursday.
During that time, the district experienced a water service outage in a portion of the western service area.
System pressure was restored at about 8 a.m. using backup supplies from Fairfield County Utilities and Jefferson Water and Sewer District.
As a result of the outage, the entire district has been placed under a boil advisory due to system-wide depressurization.
Customers are advised to boil their water until further notice. Any water used for cooking, consumption or first aid should be brought to a full rolling boil for one to three minutes prior to use.
