Two deputies involved in an officer-involved shooting in Pickaway County have been identified.
According to the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, at about 9:05 p.m. Sunday, July 21, deputies responded to the area of the 23000 block of Egypt Pike on a report of a man with a gun.
Deputies said when they arrived on scene, they found a dispute between a tenant and a landlord, 40-year-old Zachary Neff, of New Holland, Ohio.
According to deputies, they exchanged gunfire with Neff after he allegedly fired a shot at them with a pistol.
Neff was struck by buckshot in the side abdomen and the left ankle and was taken to Grant Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition.
The two officers involved in the shooting have been identified as Deputy Matthew Lane and Deputy Brandon Skaggs.
Lane has been with the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office since December 2001 and Skaggs has been with the office since May 2002.
Neither deputy was injured in the gunfire, and according to office policy, both officers have been off duty since the shooting to deal with any stress that may be related to being involved in a shooting.
According to the Pickaway County Sheriff's Office, both deputies acted in accordance with the office's policy, and the case remains under investigation.
Evidence against Neff is still being gathered and charges are pending.
