Dentist Restores Smile On Bullying Victim

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ohio -

Two weeks ago NBC4 reported on an assault at a Columbus middle school.

A sixth grade student at Mifflin Middle School in Columbus was taunted and then beaten in a classroom and another student videotaped the whole thing and posted it on Facebook.

After the story aired a local dentist contacted NBC4's Denise Alex saying he may be able to restore a smile to the young girl's face.

"They make fun of me because it's gaped out and it's broke. I just ignore them," said Renee Williams.

The 12-year-old also ignored two girls last month who instigated and initiated beating her up in front of her class.

Dr. Brian Kvitko offered his services to fix Renee's broken front tooth, an injury she sustained after her brother accidentally hit her in the mouth with a metal flashlight.

"My grandpa hugged me and started crying," said Renee hearing about the dentist's offer.

"She knows she's beautiful. She knows she is, but every time she smiles she hides it, she hides that tooth," said Amber Williams Renee's mother.

"It's an honor to be able to and I wanted to do this for Renee because she deserves it. This is going to give her back some of the self-esteem she was missing," said Dr. Brian Kvitko.

Dr. Kvitko not only wanted to help Renee Friday, but he and about a dozen other dentists gave of their time and services offering free dental work to those in need. They started at 7 a.m. and ended at 7p.m., helping to restore smiles on some 400 central Ohioans.
