Alum Creek Dog Park Closed Due To Canine Parvo Virus Report

Posted: Updated:
DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio -

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has closed the dog park at Alum Creek State Park until further notice due to a report of canine Parvo virus.

According to ODNR, park personnel were alerted by an anonymous caller that a stray dog brought to the park has been diagnosed with the virus.

The virus can be life-threatening for puppies that have not received all of their shots.

ODNR says that adult dogs that have been properly vaccinated are at very low risk.

ODNR is not certain that the dog park is involved with the spread of the virus.

The Ohio State Veterinarian has been contacted and will be at the park Friday to assist with proper cleanup of the park area.

Anyone that visited the dog park in the last week is urged to contact their veterinarian with any concerns.
