Jeni's Ice Cream, Ohio State Make Big 'Announcements'

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ohio -

Two big announcements on Facebook had a lot of Central Ohioans excited – until they realized that today is April Fool's Day.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream announced plans Monday to turn the Santa Maria into the nation's first ice cream shop on a boat. They called it the ice cream sandwicherita.

Using the replica of the historic vessel, Jeni's announced plans to deliver delicious ice cream up and down the Scioto River, docking at ports in Circleville, Chillicothe, Waverly, and Piketon.

The Ohio State University athletic department joined in the fun, too.

Photos of crews putting the finishing touches on the scarlet turf project at Ohio Stadium were posted to the Buckeyes' official Facebook page.

But a closer look at the photos reveals "April Fools."
