Columbus police detectives say a male suspect stole cigarettes and cash during a robbery at a west Columbus gas station early Wednesday morning.

According to Columbus police, the robbery occurred at about 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Circle K gas station located at 5499 Hall Road.

Detectives say that the male suspect entered the store, held his right hand in his jacket pocket and implied that he had a handgun. The suspect then reportedly told the clerk that he had 10 seconds to open the register and hand over all of the money.

The clerk reported seeing a black object in the man's pocket and complied with the demands.

The suspect then demanded two cartons of cigarettes before fleeing on foot in an eastbound direction on Hall Road, according to police.

The suspect was described as a white male between the ages of 40 and 50. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 175 pounds.

The suspect's right eye was described as being closed or droopy as though he lost the eye or had a stroke.

He was last seen wearing a gray hooded jacket, green and black checkered pajama pants, black boots, and a white and purple knit glove on his left hand.

Anyone with information regarding this robbery or the suspect is asked to contact the Columbus police robbery squad at 614-645-4665 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
