Teen Struck By Bullet In East Side Shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio -

One person is in custody after a shooting on the city's east side Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of East Livingston Avenue, near South Hamilton Road at about 3 p.m.

According to detectives, a 16-year-old boy was struck in the back of the leg by a bullet. He was transported to Grant Medical Center in stable condition and was released from the hospital by 4:20 p.m.

The investigation indicates an unknown suspect produced a gun and fired several rounds at the victim.

Officers interviewed several witnesses at the scene.

No one has been arrested in connection with this shooting. The investigation continues.

Columbus City Schools said that nearby Shady Lane Elementary School was briefly placed on a precautionary lockdown, but it was lifted and buses are being delayed by 20 minutes.
