Terry Wetzel
DELAWARE COUNTY, Ohio -
A Columbus man
was sentenced to more than nine years in prison for breaking into several homes
and vehicles in Delaware County in May and June of 2012, and attempting to
escape from jail.
Terry Wetzel,
19, pleaded guilty on two cases in January, according to the Delaware County
prosecutor.
Wetzel pleaded
guilty to one count each of receiving stolen property, robbery failure to
comply with the order or signal of a police officer, attempted escape, and two
counts of burglary.
He also
entered a plea to a bill of information on one count each of burglary and theft.
Officials said
that charges stem from numerous Genoa Township residences being broken into on
June 9, 2012.
Wetzel led a
Delaware County sheriff's deputy on a high-speed chase through yards in the
housing development while driving a stolen vehicle.
He was located
after passing out in a yard on Harrow Glen.
He was
arrested and taken to the Delaware County Jail.
While at the
jail, officials said Wetzel attempted to escape and was captured on the roof of
the jail before he could leave the jail grounds.
