COLUMBUS, Ohio -
It's been more than two months since a driver hit and killed 24-year-old Jake Zang on Cassady Avenue, near the Columbus airport.
"They made a very human mistake and we just hate to see them make an eternal mistake. We've already forgiven them, you know. We'd just like them to come forward and accept the consequences," says Jake's father John Zang.
Since the crash Zang says his family has had to lean heavily on their faith and friends.
"I just couldn't believe it because I know the family I know his values and how he and his wife built a family and I just my heart went out to them," shares Shape 4 Life Owner Deidra Skahill.
Zang adds, "It's one of those things where you want to forget but at the same time you want to remember."
Jake's parents and nine siblings are doing just that pushing past the pain to raise hope for a new beginning. Once an avid wrestler, Jake had dreamed of building a better place for the youth wrestlers he coached at Bishop Hartley High School to compete.
On Saturday, the Zang family teamed up with a local gym and raised more than $1,200 to build a new wrestling room at the school with hopes to one day name if after Jake.
"It's just nice to be able to do something," says Skahill.
"Just important is getting together for Jake and having a reason for us to all get together and commemorate what he was about and just keep his memory alive," shares Zang, as the search for the person responsible for Jake's death continues.
