NARAL Pro-Choice releases an undercover report that says crisis pregnancy centers are misleading some clients.
When women walk through the doors of the Pregnancy Decision Health Center (PDHC), CEO Tim Welsh says they know, "We are a pro-life organization and we make no apologies for that."
Welsh says PDHC helped thousands of local women facing unplanned pregnancies in 2012.
On Monday afternoon, NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio released an undercover investigative report called Ohio Crisis Pregnancy Centers Revealed.
NARAL says there's a movement to provide more support to crisis pregnancy centers like PDHC and they wanted to know what's going on behind closed doors. Group members say they sent women to 55 Ohio CPC's as part of the investigation.
NARAL Pro-Choice Director Kellie Copeland says they discovered the centers are not providing medically accurate information to women. "They're not required to they're not regulated and so they shouldn't be given tax-payer dollars."
Welsh said that all CPC's he's aware of do provide accurate information, "In the case of PDHC we are dedicated to caring and non-judgmental and medically accurate information for women faced with an untimely pregnancy."
NARAL leaders even agreed that many of their findings proved that most CPC's are being up front and honest, but said they wanted make sure all centers are being held accountable.
"We're certainly not coming forward and saying that every single one of these centers is wrong. The point of this research is to show that medically inaccurate information is being given out," says NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Program Director Jaime Miracle.
