COLUMBUS, Ohio -

A Franklin County Fair Board member is accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from an organization he devoted a large part of his life to.

The Groveport Lions Club also claims Dave Brobst stole $20,000 from its organization.

Delmer Barker, the President of the Groveport Lions Club, says the 53-year-old Groveport man was treasurer for the charitable organization from 1999 until his abrupt resignation in December.

During that same time period the Brobst was treasurer for the Franklin County Fair Board and he also resigned from the position in December.

Franklin County Fair Board Secretary Tim Shade says the state auditor's office indicated Brobst stole more than $75,000 from the board. "Of the thousands and thousands of the people that I've met and know that there is one person that I am anymore surprised about, or shocked about, than this individual."

Phillip Templeton, Brobst's lawyer, tells NBC4's Denise Alex his client repaid the Groveport Lions Club and works to repay the Franklin County Fair Board.
