HILLIARD, Ohio -
Hilliard police officers have arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly led officers on a late-night high-speed chase on Monday.
According to Hilliard police officers at the scene, an officer attempted to pull over an SUV along Cemetery Road during a traffic stop just after 11 p.m. Monday.
The driver did not pull over and fled the scene, according to police.
Officers pursued the suspect through Hilliard in a chase that lasted for more than 20 minutes, and reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.
The suspect eventually crashed into a ditch near the intersection of Feder and Doherty roads, according to officers.
Officers arrested the 20-year-old driver. Officers reported smelling an odor of alcohol on the suspect. Officers also discovered that the vehicle the suspect was driving was not registered to him.
The suspect was arrested and is now facing charges of OVI and felony fleeing, among other traffic offenses.
He has been taken to the Franklin County jail.
No one was injured during the pursuit or as a result of the crash.
During the chase, officers pursued the suspect vehicle on West Broad Street, Interstate 70, Interstate 270, Hilliard Rome Road, Alton Darby Creek Road and Amity Road. Officers say the suspect also cut through the parking lot of an apartment complex.
