HEATH, Ohio -
A Licking County man has been arrested after he allegedly burned and assaulted a baby Thursday morning.
According to the Licking County Sheriff's Office, the Licking County Children's Services contacted the deputies in reference to the possible abuse of a 22-month-old baby.
The baby had been brought to the Licking County Memorial Hospital to be evaluated. Doctors were able to determine that the baby had been a victim of violence. Doctors reported finding the baby had sustained several burns on his or her hands and had multiple bruises on his or her back.
Detectives responded to interview the mother of the baby and her live-in boyfriend.
Detectives placed the mother's boyfriend, 24-year-old Terry Hoffer Jr., under arrest, charging him with felonious assault.
Hoffer is currently being held in the Licking County Justice Center.
The investigation is ongoing.
