A female was abducted early Friday morning after what authorities are calling a drug deal gone bad.
According to Muskingum County Sheriff Matthew Lutz, four people in a Silver Acura drove to the Zanesville area to illegally buy prescription drugs from two residents.
Lutz said that during the purchase, the two Muskingum County residents, a man and a woman, robbed the four so-called buyers. At one point, Lutz said, a gun was displayed and discharged, but no injuries were reported.
After the robbery, investigators said, the alleged robbers split up, but the four robbery victims located the female suspect and forced her into their car to use her as leverage to get their money back from the male suspect.
Lutz said the group then located the male suspect, obtained their money and fled town with the female suspect still in the car.
The group dropped off the female suspect on the side of Interstate 70, where Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers later found her, Lutz said.
The sheriff said the investigation is still ongoing, but that authorities have an idea of the identities of the suspects in the Silver Acura, and are currently in the process of locating them.
