COLUMBUS, Ohio -

The search is on for a man wanted in three states for assault and attempted rape, and he's been taunting police through social media.

Michael Moses Tarpeh is wanted by police in Morgantown, West Virginia for aggravated assault and attempted sexual assault.

Tarpeh is also wanted in Massachusetts for armed carjacking, robbery and assault and battery.

The University of Connecticut Police Department also has arrest warrants pending for Tarpeh.

Police said Tarpeh popped up at a bar on 4th Street this week -- and officers found out becauseof a post on Twitter.

Tarpeh is also known as Michael Moses Boadi and refers to himself as "Bigggggg Mike."

He posed in a picture with an unsuspecting local Olympian, Amanda Furrer.

Furrer told NBC4's Marcus Thorpe, "It's a quick story. He saw I had a verified account on my twitter and found out I went to the olympics so he asked me to follow him. He wanted a couple pictures and was really excited about it. Yesterday morning he asked me to tweet one to him so I did (which I have now taken down but is still currently circulating and on his page). Apparently somebody on my page recognized him and warned authorities. Finding out who he was, I was very surprised. He was a bubbly outgoing guy out having a good time with his friends. Just goes to show you really don't know who people are and you need to be aware of the people around you. "

When word got out that Tarpeh might be close, Ohio State sent out an email notification.

"The purpose is to notify families, students, staff, something to be aware of," Bob Armstrong, Ohio State Director of Emergency Management said.

By going into bars and posting on Twitter, Tarpeh isn't keeping the lowest of profiles.

"He's putting it out there for the entire world, whether it is redirection or he is just that bold, we'll follow this," Deputy Brad Fleming with the U.S. Marshals Service said.
