A newborn baby delivered after a fatal crash on Interstate 670 Thursday morning has died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Columbus Division of Police says the baby boy died Thursday night at The Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center.
On Thursday, police say Casey Badgley, 25, was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-670, near Cassady Avenue. Police say he crashed head-on with a car driven by Sara Vogelmeier, 26, who was seven months pregnant at the time.
Vogelmeier and her unborn baby were transported to the hospital after the crash. Volgelmeier is still in critical condition.
Badgley died hours after the crash at Grant Medical Center.
Police say Badgley was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
This is the first traffic related death of 2013 in the city of Columbus.
