COLUMBUS, Ohio -
The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is investigating a
fatal traffic crash that occurred on the city's southwest side on February 14.
According to deputies, a 2002 International truck, driven by
56-year-old Jeffrey Smiley, of Columbus, was stopped in the southbound lanes of
Georgesville Road when it was struck in the rear by a 1996 Mercury Villager
minivan, driven by 53-year-old Lawrence Mabry, of Columbus.
Mabry was transported to Doctor's West Hospital where he was
later pronounced dead.
Smiley was uninjured in the crash.
Deputies do not suspect alcohol or drugs to be a factor in
this crash
The International truck was carrying fuel at the time of the
crash.
