
Four people suspected of stealing a vehicle, assaulting and robbing a teenager, and pointing a gun at a young child in northeast Columbus have been taken into police custody Wednesday morning.
According to Columbus police, officers responded to Pine Bluff Road on a report of an aggravated robbery at about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
Detectives tell NBC4 a 16-year-old was reportedly pistol-whipped and robbed by four to five suspects. The suspects then fled from the scene in an SUV matching the description of an SUV stolen from the area of Tamarack Circle and Sandalwood Road on Tuesday.
Detectives say a 9-year-old student walking in the vicinity of Parkmoor Elementary School reported the suspects in the SUV allegedly pointed a gun at them at about 9 a.m.
Officers spotted the SUV in the area of Gerbert Road and North Broadway Street. Officers followed the SUV, which crashed into two parked cars. Five suspects fled from inside of the SUV. Four of the suspects were apprehended by officers.
A gun was recovered from inside of a school bag inside of the SUV, according to police.
Officers are still searching for the fifth suspect.
Charges are pending further investigation.
