Troopers are investigating an injury crash involving a car and a train in
Marion County Monday evening.
Troopers from the Marion post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the
railroad crossing near Park Avenue and Railroad Street, in the Village of
Prospect, at about 7:22 p.m. Monday.
According to the report, 18-year-old Connor Helman was driving a 2009
Pontiac G-6 eastbound on Park Street, near Railroad Street, just before the
crash.
A CSX Transportation train was traveling southbound on the railroad tracks,
approaching Park Street when troopers say Helman attempted to cross the tracks
in front of the train. The front of Helman's Pontiac G-6 struck the side of the
lead engine of the train.
Helman, and his passenger, 21-year-old Brandon Phillips, were air-lifted to Grant
Medical Center where they were listed in stable condition. No CSX personnel
sustained any injuries.
