Anthony Torres has already been so much, from a terrible accident, to a catastrophic injury to his foot and leg, to amputation, recovery and rehabilitation.
But the next chapter in this Mifflin Township fire lieutenant's story will be one of joy and hard work paying off.
Next Monday, he will make history as the first Ohio amputee firefighter to go back on active duty.
"We'd be on the couch watching TV time to go to bed so I'd use my crutches to get to the stairs and crawl backwards and forwards up and down the stairs," Torres said.
Now he will be throwing ladders, running hose, leading men and women on calls, and doing it all on his prosthetic leg.
