The Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show launched in June of 2011 as a way to inspire a new generation of crafters and artists. The show features local talent that you would expect to find on websites like Pinterest or Etsy...this isn't your grandmothers craft show
"It has everything from home goods like baked goods to quilted things to crochet jewelry it just has a huge gamete and all are local artisans." Carrie Wheaton has sold her handmade jewelry at the sale before and this time around is introducing a new line to her brand, Rustic Charm.
Her upcycled chalkboards are made from materials found in local salvage and thrift stores and each design is inspired by the items that she discovers
"I like that they are vintage and all different but go together." Carrie gives each of the items new life as a work of art.
You can see Carrie's artwork first hand and all the artisan works this Saturday at the Avant-Garde Craft Show at St. Agatha's Parish in Upper Arlington. The show is from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., admission and parking is free to the public. Part of the proceeds from the show will go to Columbus non-profit Hope Hollows, which offers complimentary lodging to persons with cancer and their loved ones.
