Deputies Seize Heroin During Athens County Traffic Stop

Investigators say a shipment of heroin that was en route to an Athens County village was intercepted Wednesday.

According to Athens County Sheriff Patrick Kelly, the Narcotics Enforcement Team received information that heroin was being transported through the county on Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials located the suspect vehicle and performed a traffic stop. A K-9 officer indicated to the car, and deputies performed a searched the vehicle.

Sheriff Kelly said deputies found 13 individually wrapped doses of heroin and a larger chunk of heroin in the suspect vehicle.

David Barstow II, 34, and Shauntelle Barstow, 29, of Albany were arrested.

The couple's 18-month-old child was also in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
