SHARONVILLE, Ohio -
Troopers allegedly seize marijuana and a handgun after helping a stranded motorist Sunday night.
According
to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers stopped to assist a disabled
vehicle on Interstate 75, near milepost 16 at about 9:08 p.m. Sunday.
When
troopers made contact with the driver, they noticed a handgun on the
front passenger seat and detected the odor of burnt marijuana.
After a probable search, troopers allegedly found a pound of hydroponic marijuana worth about $4,500 and a loaded 9mm handgun.
The
driver of the vehicle, Qualin L. Daniel, 23 of West Chester, was charged
with fifth-degree felony possession of marijuana and third-degree
felony possession of weapons under disability.
Daniel is
incarcerated in the Hamilton County Justice Center and if convicted he
could face up to six years in prison and $12,500 fine.
