Suspected Drunken Driver Pleads Not Guilty To Charges In Fatal Crash

A Columbus man pleaded not guilty to charges that he caused a fatal crash in Delaware County earlier this month.
Marc Kraft, 45, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, four felony counts of aggravated vehicular assault, two felony counts of driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse, or a combination of them.
Kraft appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to all charges. Bond was set at $300,000.
Kraft was arrested after a four-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. Route 23, just south of state Route 315 at about 8:45 p.m. on November 8.
Prior to the crash, several motorists had called 911 to report Kraft’s red truck had been driving erratically on U.S. 23. Kraft reportedly reached speeds of 80 to 90 miles per hour before crashing into a stopped Subaru that contained a young couple and their 10-month-old baby.
The force of the crash pushed the Subaru into a tow truck while Kraft’s truck continued into the southbound lanes of traffic where he side-swiped another vehicle.
Kraft’s blood alcohol level was .23, almost three times the legal driving limit.
Kraft has five prior drunk driving convictions out of Pennsylvania, according to court records.
Delaware Prosecutor Carol O’Brien says he has not possessed a valid driver’s license in over two decades.
