Braxton Miller Named Big Ten Freshman Of The Year

By Jerod Smalley

Ohio State’s true freshman quarterback Braxton Miller celebrated his birthday Wednesday, and the celebrations grew from there. He was named the Big Ten Thomson-Randle El Freshman of the Year.

Miller enjoyed a stellar freshman season, taking over as the starting QB in the season’s fourth game. He compiled nearly 1700 total yards this season and was OSU’s leading rusher. He turned in a clutch performance in the season’s biggest game against Michigan. Miller totaled 335 yards rushing and passing in a close loss to the Wolverines.

His season highlight came in the final seconds at home to Wisconsin, when he heaved a 40 yard touchdown pass to Devin Smith to lift the Bucks to a victory over the Badgers. After that game he was named the conference freshman of the week. He won the award a 2nd time just this week for his Michigan performance.
