
Matt Barnes joined the NBC4 staff as digital journalist with a sports emphasis in May 2010.
Matt, a Columbus native, came to WCMH-TV after working at WRDW-TV in Augusta, GA., from June 2008 to May 2010. He also worked as an intern with NBC4 in 2007.
Matt received a degree in broadcast journalism from the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. He graduated Cum Laude.
He worked for Gridiron Glory at WOUB and won a student production Emmy. He was also one of 12 OU students who were featured in a commercial campaign, including a billboard.
Matt said the most memorable event he covered was the 2010 Masters with Tiger Woods' return to golf and Phil Mickelson's victory.
Matt said his biggest thrill was playing Augusta National twice and shooting over 100 both times.
If he weren't working in TV, Matt said he would be working in college admissions or recreational sports.
He said his first job was working as a cook/server at Columbus Country Club.
