Denise Alex is a digital journalist for NBC4.
Prior to joining the NBC4 team, Alex served as an anchor and reporter for the Ohio News Network (ONN) and WBNS-TV here in Columbus.
She also worked as an anchor and reporter at WTAP-TV in Parkersburg, WV., and a bureau chief at WBOY-TV in Fairmont, WV.
Alex graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and Communications with a minor in Modern Greek.
She has been nominated twice for an Emmy and has been the recipient of numerous anchor and reporting Associated Press awards, Cleveland Press awards and SPJ awards.
Alex says the most memorable story she covered was a winter storm where ice-covered trees fell all around her and her photographer. They had to rig cords to their SUV to move the fallen trees from the rural road. They had no cell phone service at the time.
Alex is a member of the Philoptochos-Greek Orthodox women's philanthropic organization.
If she weren't working in television, Alex said she would be working for a humane society or helping under privileged kids.
Alex's first job was as a busser at a restaurant called Ditto's. She says she was horrible at it!
Alex lives in Powell with her husband, Art; and their two dogs, Alex the German Shepherd, and Parker the Pitt-Plotthand mix.
