UNION TOWNSHIP, OH (WCMH) - The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Washington Court House woman Friday morning.

The crash happened on State Route 753 south of Stuckey Road in Union Township in Fayette County.

According to Sheriff Vernon Stanforth, a 1998 Toyota Camry driven by Amanda D. Saltz-Smith was traveling south when it went off the left side of the road.

The car went down an embankment and overturned multiple times before coming to rest in a farm field. Saltz-Smith was ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash appears to have happened sometime overnight, but was not discovered until around 6:40am.

Investigators say Saltz-Smith was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
