COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) - One person is hospitalized after a shooting near the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Columbus.
Officers were dispatched to the area of 350 N. High Street just before 10:30am Saturday on the report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim, whose identity has not been released by investigators at this time, was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition, according to dispatchers with the Columbus Division of Police.
According to investigators, the suspect was attending a graduation ceremony at the Greater Columbus Convention center when an altercation involving the victim and at least one male subject broke out. The incident continued outside and escalated into a physical altercation in the middle of the street in front of the Hyatt Hotel. That's when police say another male suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.
The suspect is described as a black male with a haved head and beard. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored t-shirt with writing on the front and light-colored shorts. He may have fled in a red Toyota with a temporary license plate. Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
