Police: One dead after construction-related accident at Mount Carmel Grove City

GROVE CITY, OH (WCMH) -- Grove City police say a person died in a construction-related accident Wednesday afternoon.

The construction site is at Mount Carmel Grove City, in the 5300 block of North Meadows Drive. 

The deceased's name, age, and gender have not yet been released. 

Sean McKibben, president of Mount Carmel Grove City and Mount Carmel West, released the following statement to the media: 

We are extremely sad to learn that an employee of our construction partner, Thyssen Krupp, was killed today at the Mount Carmel Grove City construction site. His family, friends and co-workers have our deepest and most profound sympathy.

We will work with all of the relevant authorities and regulators to investigate the circumstances of this accident. As we learn more, we will provide updates.

For now, we ask that all of you keep this man and his loved ones in your prayers, as we are.

Thyssenkrupp released the following statement:

We are saddened about a fatal accident that occurred in Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday, April 18. Our deepest sympathies go out to our thyssenkrupp Elevator employee’s family and colleagues. We do not have details about the accident at this time but are fully cooperating with authorities and have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
