COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Hey kids, it’s time to get in the game and read this summer! NBC 4 invites children to discover the joy of lifelong reading by registering for the Summer Reading Club at any branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Southwest Public Library or Worthington Public Libraries through Saturday, August 2, 2008.

As children read throughout the summer and attend programs at library branches, they have the opportunity to earn rewards including coupon books, tote bags, and books, plus can register to win bicycles, Nintendo DS game systems or Columbus Blue Jackets game tickets.

This year’s theme is “Game On. Read.” with a tie to the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China from August 8-24. The NBC 4 Sports Team of Jerod Smalley and Omar Ruiz will be giving presentations about their careers and favorite story highlights at various library branches in June and July. You can catch Jerod on June 23 at 10 am at the Gahanna branch and on July 9 at 11 am at the Dublin branch. Omar will share his sports experiences on June 24 at 11 am at the Southeast branch and again on July 16 at 11 am at the Worthington Northwest branch.

"Game On. Read." Is presented by RiteRug/Anita & Michael Goldberg Fund and The Columbus Dispatch. Partners this year include National City, Giant Eagle, CollegeAdvantage, Kiwanis Club of Columbus, Friends of the Library/Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation, Panera, Scholastic, Volunteers of America, Target, Columbus Blue Jackets and NBC 4.
