CANAL WINCHESTER, Ohio -- Canal Winchester has just finished a new road project that is good for our environment. The crews are using pervious concrete. This concrete will keep your street dry and help clean the water.
Kenneth Caubble, President of Ohio Concrete tells NBC 4’s Marshall McPeek that the pervious concrete filters the water and takes out pollutants and other things you may not want in your ground water.
Storm systems will still handle overflow, but most of the water will go back to the aquifer and replenishes Canal Winchester’s wells for drinking water. Even though the pervious costs more, the project still stayed within budget.
Canal Winchester tells NBC 4 that this is may be the largest public application of pervious concrete in the mid-west and will probably be using it in more of their projects.
