COLUMBUS, Ohio -- It’s everywhere you look. Everyone is talking about going green. But what does it really mean to you, your family, your business … your wallet? Effective today in NBC 4 at 6 p.m., NBC 4 will make going green simple and fun with the launch of a new community initiative, “It’s About Green”.
“With all the awareness about going green, we knew it was time for NBC 4 to become more environmentally friendly. We realized that we have a long way to go, but as we learn what to do, we decided we could educate our viewers too” said Craig Robinson, NBC 4 President and General Manager.
"We all can do more in our homes, businesses and neighborhoods to Get Green, taking responsibility for our environment and making Columbus a better place to live, work and raise a family," said Mayor Michael B. Coleman. "I'm proud to see one of our biggest community partners, NBC 4, stepping up to get out the green message."
Every Thursday on NBC 4 at 6 p.m., It’s About Green will examine the issue from many different viewpoints -- we’ll show you simple and inexpensive ways to go green, highlight the city and state’s efforts on the initiative, and show you what some of your friends and neighbors are already doing to benefit the environment. NBC 4 Today Weekend anchor and Storm Team 4 Meteorologist Marshall McPeek will bring you the weekly reports. “We’ve got a lot of great stories to tell. We’re hoping viewers will contribute story ideas by telling us what they are doing and how they are doing it,” said McPeek.
Viewers can email green story ideas, events and more to itsaboutgreen@wcmh.com. The station will dedicate a portion of their website at www.nbc4i.com to the project including a listing of events, recycling opportunities, ideas and links.
