Anietra Hamper

Anietra Hamper co-anchors NBC 4 Today and NBC 4 Midday with Marcus Thorpe.

She has been a general assignment reporter for NBC 4 since 1999.

Starting in August 1998, she worked at WRGT Fox 45 in Dayton, Ohio, as a weekend anchor and reporter while also serving WKEF NBC 22 in Dayton as a general assignment reporter. Between 1996 and 1998, Anietra was employed at WTTE FOX 28/WSYX-TV in Columbus as a general assignment reporter.

Previously, she served WTTE FOX 28 as an anchor/reporter for "This Week," as well as the station's director of community affairs. Anietra also served as a news assistant at KARK-TV in Little Rock, Ark., as a production assistant for "The McLaughlin Group" in Washington, D.C., an anchor/reporter/producer at WHEI-TV in Tiffin, Ohio, and as a programming assistant at WSYX-TV.

Anietra lists her most memorable story covered as the time she was a firefighter for a day.

"I went into a burning home with Columbus firefighters during a training exercise," she said. "I was suited up in full gear and walked straight into a wall of fire and thick smoke on the second floor. I actually helped knock down the flames using the water hose."

Anietra graduated cum laude from Heidelberg College in Tiffin with bachelor of arts degrees in both communications and political science in 1995.

Anietra is a member of the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences and has been honored with the YWCA Women of Achievement Award, The United States Congressional Award, JC Penney Golden Rule Award, Jefferson Award, and numerous local, state and national honors for competitive public speaking.

Anietra is a Columbus native and resides in Gahanna, with her puppy, Sunny, and her 14 fish.

She spends time volunteering and working with kids for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In addition, she is actively involved with the YWCA's Women of Achievement.

She said if she weren't in the television industry, she would be a professional public speaker or would work for a nonprofit organization. Her first job was as a babysitter and hostess at Bob Evans.
