UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio——Once a vibrate hot spot, the Kingsdale Shopping Center has deteriorated into a miserable eyesore.  But after years of debate, city leaders finally believe they are close to accepting a new proposal to revitalize the area.  Rusted, cracked ceilings, vacant stores, and empty parking lots, the Kingsdale Shopping Center is a big hole in the middle of Upper Arlington.  The Continental Real Estate Company wants to breathe life into the area. It proposes plans to redevelop existing stores and to add in new retail and office spaces.

Sixty million dollars would be poured into the project.  Most existing stores are expected to stay.  The Giant Eagle would move into a bigger building and developers hope the popular grocery chain will attract new businesses into the center.  The City of Upper Arlington will hear public comments regarding the proposal in early February.  If plans are approved, developers expect the new stores to open in 2010.
