CINCINNATI—A former Cincinnati firefighter who killed another motorist in a wrong-way crash has won early release after serving half his four-year prison sentence.

Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Ralph Winkler on Tuesday placed Joseph Dance under house arrest for two years, put him on probation for five and ordered him not to drink alcohol during that time.

Nearly two years ago, Dance pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide. He told a judge he was driving drunk after a 2006 Christmas party when his SUV struck another vehicle, killing 26-year-old Lisa Kreutzer of suburban Delhi Township.

Dance was driving the wrong way on Interstate 71 at the time.

Thirty-year-old Dance is under a lifetime driving ban imposed when he was sentenced in 2007.
